Our Why

~Meet~

Hello! My name is Bex!

Born into a family of artisans, I was heavily influenced by my childhood experiences and followed an academic path in the arts. I’ve always been surrounded by artists and one of my favorite things about the gallery is getting to know so many unique people and how they choose to create.

On View Gallery’s humble beginnings started inside a healing arts studio in the New Bohemian District. I’ve always considered myself lucky to have many friends who were professional artists, along with being surrounded by artists in the district. In many conversations over the years, there seemed to be a common theme of frustration with local artists. The recurring sentiment was that there wasn’t the support for emerging artists. There was disappointment that galleries restricted collaborations and free market movement with no-compete contracts and yet, representation was not equal within galleries. Lastly, artists were disillusioned that commission splits were half of artwork pricing or more.

My gallery decided to shake things up. We don’t have contracts that bind artists to a restricted sales footprint. They are free to collaborate or sell to whomever they chose. If an artist selects to work with On View Gallery, we act as a gallery for a certain amount of time and don’t regulate artists from other endeavors, collaborations, or sales. We support and assist in bringing sales or projects to an artist. Our gallery sales approach is artist centered.

We also take less of a commission than normal galleries, because we choose not to have an expensive gallery space to pay for. While we have an online gallery, we also work with local businesses and rotate gallery exhibitions within their gallery walls. By operating this way, we serve a dual purpose, we put the most money we can into the artists pocket, and we actively bring art into the community for all to enjoy.

We believe in the hustle, we believe in artists being in control of their artwork and we want to work alongside artists as they build their creative empires.

~Mission~

On View Gallery takes the time to develop relationships with artists and we are proud to represent what we like to refer to as “hidden gem” artists.

These can be emerging artists who have been traditionally trained, or perhaps artists who have been working at their craft for decades but don’t want to spend time building their brand, or even the artists that discovered the arts later in life but show incredible talent.

We love finding these hidden gem artists and discovering their artwork and then finding the perfect person who will love and cherish their artwork as much as we do.

We feel its our mission to help support independent artists, while providing an excellent art-buying experience from start to finish for customers.
